Agave americana -v- marginata

The century plant typically lives between 10 and 30 years. It has a spreading rosette of gray-green leaves up to 2m long, each with a spiny margin and a heavy spike at the tip. The 'marginata' makes an excellent landscape plant. The plant dies after flowering, but produces suckers or adventitious shoots from the base, which continue its growth. When it flowers, the spike with big yellow flowers may reach up to 26ft in height.
