The Aloe thraskii is an evergreen succulent indigenous to South Africa. The majority of its populations are found growing in sand dunes (eastern coast of South Africa). The Aloe thraskii thrives in full sun. It prefers drier summers and has very low water requirements. At full maturity, the Aloe thraskii reaches heights of approximately 8' - 10' with an approximate width of 4' - 5'. This species is hardy down to 30 - 32° F!

The Aloe thraskii produces golden colored flowers during the winter months. Its flowers appear on a well-branched inflorescence. They commonly grow between 15 to 25 upright and broadly cylindrical racemes. Flowers take on a golden yellow color, sporting orange anthers. Consequently, this causes their flowers to take on a bicolored appearance. Juvenile specimens often produce single inflorescences while mature specimens easily grow multiples.
