Notocactus magnificus

Notocactus magnificus is indigenous to Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. This species grows on hilly grassland and on walls between cracks in the rocks. It forms symbiotic relationships with larger, solitary plants and plant life in deciduous forests by growing in provided shade. Its native soil is well-draining and contains a reasonably high organic content.

Flowers are yellow in color. Flowers typically bloom several times during the summer months through early fall. Fruits are pink and globose. The Notocactus magnificus is an easy to grow ornamental species. It thrives in half or full sun and requires well-draining soil. Use a cactus/succulent specific fertilizer (high potassium content that includes all micronutrients and trace elements or a slow release fertilizer).
